Now I'm someone who really hates the gossip and bad mouthing of celebrities based on their personal life. I can't stand hearing people talk about Tom Cruise and his support and belief of scientology. With the littlest bit of information and very meticulously shaped soundbytes people disregard others without any real understanding. I totally agree with Dave Chappelle in his statement from Inside the Actor's Studio, "The worst thing to call somebody is crazy, it's dismissive, 'I don't understand this person, so they're crazy' - that's bullshit. These people are not crazy, they're strong people, maybe their environment is a little sick." I hate the obsession with celebrity in our culture. That might seem weird coming from a film/TV news blog, but my interest is professional, and focused on the production and craft of filmmaking, television production, acting and writing. Nothing on here will ever deal with disgusting tabloid gossip and paparazzi.
Having said that, I have to reference the disgusting tabloid gossip organization TMZ (And I refuse to link to their actual website) because of their snag of something outrageous that happened on the set of Terminator: Salvation. This is something obviously worthy of tabloid gossip, but I'm posting it because it shows some of the darker and not so entertaining side of the film production.
In an audio clip posted by TMZ, we can hear Batman himself, Christian Bale yelling like crazy at the director of photography on set. What appears to have happened is either during an actual shoot (or more than likely a rehearsal since a DP wouldn't change lighting mid-shot unless intentionally trying to botch a take) director of photography Shane Hurlbut needed to adjust a light, and apparently this distracted Mr. Bale during his scene with co-star Bryce Dallas Howard. The audio clip begins mid-rant and continues on for an awkward and painful length of time. There's plenty of yelling and f-bombs abound, and even a time when it sounds like Bale almost went to fight the DP. It's really embarrassing and disappointing to see (or rather hear)from an actor who has really had a stellar career be so unprofessional on set
Anyway, this really makes me wonder how difficult some actors can be to work with, when something so inconsequential that not even the director notices happens on set. Christian Bale obviously has a temper, and it definitely takes away from his professional credibility.

Wow. That's absolutely ridiculous. To hear Bale treat someone in such a way definitely knocks him down a couple notches.
I agree. He is a talented actor, but there is no reason to act that way.
Whilst it is quite rude behaviour no doubt, it's hardly as though he is alone in his field where these outbursts are concerned. I'm not all that surprised to be honest, saddened, but not surprised.
You are incredible pussies. The guy is trying to do a job. Listen to what he says. The problem is Hollywood fuck-arounds that think they mean dick to a movie. The guy he yelled at I'm sure had it coming.
im sorry, but anyone that flames christian for his behavior needs to be punched in the face in order to wake up. THIS IS A TERMINATOR MOVIE, multimillion dollar hollywood film. if u actually listen to the audio u would know that this wanst the first time this guy walk on set randomly. christian along with all famous actors work their tails off to get stuff right, to memorize lines. and for one guy to just carelessly walk on set and ruin a scene, then act like nothing is wrong? that deserves all the criticizm in the world.
^ I don't think you know what a DP does if you think that they are "Hollywood fuck-arounds" that doesn't mean anything to the movie.
Bale is an actor who devours characters. Look at The Machinist. Apparently the interruption happened during one of the most emotional parts of the movie. I hope Bale apologized later, but acting is not easy and distractions are unprofessional.
Christian Bale needs to grow the fuck up. It was just a rehearsal. What a fuckin joke.
It wasn't a take fuck-holes. You hear the part where Bale yells at McG and McG says he wasn't watching? McG is not only a douchebag name, but he's also the director. If this was a real take and not a rehearsal, McG would be watching. DP adjusted a light during a rehearsal and the dark-jerkoff freaked.
Funny thing is, as a leading man, Bale will have an awesome career if he's in 30, 40 movies. A DP will have an ok career if he DPs 100 movies.
There's no excuse for an adult to behave like in a professional setting. I don't care if the guy walked right in front of camera (which wasn't even close to the case) there are better ways to handle it. He was being an asshole.
The fact that this is a multi-million dollar is no excuse for this much unprofessional behavior on set. I don't care if the guy walked in front of the camera, this is no situation where the lead actor of a film should flip out about production gaffes as this. That's the job for the director, McG. Obviously since he didn't see it, he couldn't deal with it immediately, but Bale should have mentioned something to McG or just talked to Shane (the DP) about this situation. The extended outburst probably cost more money is wasting people's time then did the DP's adjustment in the scene (or rehearsal since no one really knows). And honestly, I don't care how method, or deep of an actor Bale is, if he was really that good, he could have ignored it? Have any of you ever been on the set of a production with a budget? Not a student film mind you but a budget. I worked as a PA and let me tell you stuff is always going on behind the scenes around shooting areas, and this guy would not have touched a light if this was a real take going on. It would've messed up the lighting seen on camera and that's the end of it. Bale acted unprofessionally and it was uncallled for. Acting is a different craft than any crew member and to say they work harder than any member of the crew is foolish. Film is a collaborative art and a machine that needs all its parts working smoothly.
Who the FUCK is Christian Bale?!?
I may be in the minority, but I believe that Bale should have killed the guy. This is a business where there is no room for error. I don't know if he should have gone after the guys family or not though. That is still up for debate in my head. What do you guys think?
You're a pussy
