Scrubs Webisode Premieres

With the new season of 'Scrubs' premiering this Tuesday, the show's new home ABC is launching a series of webisodes (ala 'The Office') that feature some of the new cast members that are going to be around to try and hide the fact that some of the stars won't be - as budgetary constraints didn't allow for all of the stars to be in all the episodes. The video introduces the new class of interns at Sacred Heart (with the notable exception Aziz Ansari) as well as a few cameos from the old cast we already know and love. A fun surprise was seeing 'Little Giant's' Todd Bosley as Howie, one of the new goofball interns.

If this short is a preview of what we can expect from the eighth season of Scrubs, then I'm fairly excited. This short webisode is arguably better than any episode in the past two seasons, even featuring line-for-line callbacks to the early seasons of the show. This comes as little surprise, as 'Scrubs' creator Bill Lawrence has said that this season will be more like the early seasons of the show in tone, allowing them to focus on these new interns as students with the old cast as teachers.

As star and narrator Zach Braff, Judy Reyes, and creator/excrubtive producer Bill Lawrence have said they will not return after this season, the direction the series is taking seems like a natural progression and one easily continued should, say, ABC decide to keep the show on past what it supposed to be the eighth and final season.

All and all the webisode is a good sign, but it begs the question – if Scrubs does continue would you watch a Zach Braff-less Scrubs starting a cast of relative unknowns? Tell us what you think in the comments. And make sure to watch the season premiere of Scrubs, Tuesday at 9/8c on ABC.
