Helping Michael Cera

Okay, I've always been a fan of Michael Cera. Ever since Arrested Development premiered he's been one of my top five favorite tall awkward teen actors. Superbad, Juno, his guest stint (alongside Arrested Development co-star Alia Shawkat) in Veronica Mars. I even saw Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. For him. Even though back in September he said this:

“I don’t think I would want to see a movie of [Arrested Development] if I was a fan, anyway… and I don’t really see a need for it if you can get the three seasons on DVD.”
Okay. So that hurt. But, the part that always got to me was how untrue and out of touch the comment seemed. The fans want it, his co-stars want it, even the show's creator Mitch Hurwitz wants it in a big bad way. Sadly it would seem that the only one on the planet who's not interested in a movie is Michael Cera.

Now I'm not mad at Cera, I understand is concern. I think someone needs to sit and down and show him some of the excellent movies that have been based on TV shows. Luckily, I've done the legwork. Check out a small guide to making Michael Cera understand after the jump.

1. Serenity:

Based On: Firefly.
Tell Cera: The Arrested Devlopment movie could have less of a bodycount.

2. A Goofy Movie:

Based On: Goof Troop.
Tell Cera: There wouldn't have to be any songs.

3. Reno 911: Miami:

Based On: Reno 911
Tell Cera: Show translated oddly well to the screen.

These are just a handful of examples. There are tons more to be learned from. I have faith in Hurwitz and the cast. If Goofy can do it, so can Cera.

If I ever say Michael Cera I would ask him to marry me. That is all.
